Press Forward, Saints

Photo: This preparation day, some sisters and I were excited to hike a Virginia "mountain." When we discovered our first fork in the trail, we agreed on a direction and resumed our journey. As we passed through additional forks in the trail, we realized that we'd hiked for an hour without the slightest incline, and we were lost. We finally decided to pray. Soon some teenagers walked by. They had a MAP! With their help, we continued on to a beautiful overlook. Hot, sweaty, and tired, we thought we'd stop there. A sister urged us on with "Don't give up! We are so close," so we kept on climbing. Five minutes later we found ourselves at the top, enjoying a breathtaking view of the whole valley. We would have missed out had we stopped below.

Similar to this hike, in life we would be lost without prayer and a map ( The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ ) to get us to the top. These resources help us choose the right path and reach our destination. Reaching this destination isn't easy, but as we "press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life." (2 Nephi 31:20). I know that as we continue to rely on our Heavenly Father and the tools He has given us, we will receive eternal life.

Hello Blogging World!

My name is Sister Erin Tescher. I am serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Washington DC South mission, which covers pretty much all of Northern Virginia.

A little bit about me: I am from Southern Idaho and Eastern Montana. I love the outdoors. My two seasons are snowboarding season and longboarding season. I like to camp, fish, hunt, hike, white-water raft, and anything else you can do in the wilderness.

Missionaries are full time, unpaid representatives for Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive His restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement; repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.

If you have any questions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) please feel free to ask! You can add me as a friend on Facebook (www.facebook.com/erin.tescher) or email me at  erin.tescher@myldsmail.net.
